After winning silver in 2008, Purdue confidently stated that her aim was to win the next two individual titles in the junior race, before graduating to the senior ranks. Purdue ran a stunning 15:32 5km in the Chiba Ekiden Relay in November 2008. She says that her family and friends are her biggest influences. Outside of athletics she has achieved a grade five in Ballet.
