A former competitive swimmer she says that her coach, George Gandy has had the biggest influence on her career. Her sister is also an international athlete and they both competed at the European XC championships in 2006. Laura graduated from Loughborough University in 2007 with a degree in Publishing with English. She enjoys going to London's West End to watch musicals and she can also play piano and the trombone.
