| I have been involved in athletics since the age of 9, when I joined Bexley AC. I remained a member their until 1998 when I relocated to the Midlands and joined Tamworth AC.
I have been coaching since my early 20's; mainly 400m, 800m and hurdles, but also 100m & 200m athletes.
In my late teens, I represented London at English Schools and inter county cross country events and Kent County AA on the track.
I describe the standard I achieved as being "county standard when county standard meant something" - I remember competing in the Kent champs as an under 20 and there were always 3 or 4 heats for 1500m; something I have sadly not seen at a county champs for many years.
My career bests are:
400m - 54.0 1989
800m - 1.59.3 1989
1500m - 4.05.5 1985
3000m - 8.58.7 1985
Unfortunately, I was involved in a car crash in my mid 20's and have suffered various problems since, but with the right help over recent years, I am again enjoying my athletics as a master, where I motivate myself by thinking in terms of having PB's for each age group. |
