About Login
Started running for Luton AC back in Tony Simmons era. After Uni at Swansea (where I was selected to run for Wales as a Junior, (until they decided I didn't have the right qualifications), I moved to Reading, training and racing alongside Gerry and Don Stevens. Highlight was doing the Land's End - John O'Groats relay and breaking the record. I then moved up to the Midlands and joined Tipton, with the likes of Alan Rushmer and 'killer' Rollinson. Missed out on a win in the National Road relays when I had a detached retina and thought my running days were over, so joined Dudley and Stourbridge instead and started Bridgnorth with a few others. My best results were as a vet., placing 2nd nationally over 3000s/c and 5k, and 3rd in the AAA half-marathon. I missed out twice in a row on selection for the England Vets X/C team by 2 places Moved to Cornwall in '78, when my coaching career really took over. Coached Heidi Hosking (U15G 4.29.9 1500) and Liz Yelling(Talbot), and have since coached 9 athletes to national vests, mostly schools. Best of these are Juliet Potter, Conor Robinson, and Jordon West. Have served variously on Cornwall Schools Athletics Committee (Chairman) and the ESAA. Was shortlisted for the UK Athletics/Alfa Romeo Coach award last year, and won it, together with a shiny new Alfa Mito.
