Initially running to get fit for football, Hugh decided to test the water by running his first 10k in 2010. The course included 700 foot of ascent with Campbell setting a course record of 37 minutes in his first ever competitive race. Since then he has gone on to run several 10k/Half Marathon and Marathons. Hugh is currently coached by Karen MacLeod who was previously an international athlete representing Scotland at various competitions including the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics (Atlanta 96).
