Terry first joined Northampton Phoenix AC in 1972 age 11. After a couple of years he had a break and re-joined the club in 1979 briefly as an U20.
In 1983 he re-joined again at the age of 22.
Egan has competed in over 1000 races for club and county, which include more than 400 on the track and in excess of 250 each on Road and Country.
From 1985-1996 he was the first man home for Northampton Phoenix on 27 occasions in the Birmingham & District Cross Country League, which attributed to him being the club's xc champion 8 times.
For 10 successive years from 1988-1997 Egan won a County medal in the Northants 5000m Champs winning the Senior title 4 times along with 3 silver and 3 bronze.
On Dec.1st 2012 he completed his 100th Birmingham League XC race and then on Jul.26th 2015 won his 100th Northants County medal as a Senior/Veteran athlete.
On the road he led home Phoenix 39 times from 1984-2000 in the East Midlands Grand Prix Series and on Jun.18th 2019 he completed his 100th race in the series, but more notably this was also his 1000th race in total from age 18 in 1979.
On Nov. 9th 2019 he then went on to complete his 1000th race as a Senior/Veteran athlete ( 1982-2019 ).
