Richard has been involved with athletics since 1985, firstly as an athlete and now as an athlete and coach.
He won the English Schools 400m in 1986 and reached the final of the AAAs as a 400m hurdler in 1995. He still enjoys competing as a Masters athlete and ran 56.86 at the age of 40 for 400m hurdles and was the 2015 and 2018 British Masters champion at the event. Richard has been coaching athletes with a wide range of abilities since 1993. He is a fully qualified UK:Athletics coach in both sprints and endurance with experience of coaching all levels from total beginner to international level.
He is the head coach with Momentum Sports, which has been coaching athletes for over 15 years now, since he set it up in 2000.
Over that period Richard has coached a large number of athletes at all levels and currently has his strongest squad to date, helping many Kingston and Polytechnic AC athletes, and also a number from other clubs, produce Pbs this year.
Momentum Sports great team of coaches is responsible for over 300 athletes of all ages and can boast, amongst many more Phoebe Law, Nicole Kendall, Pippa Earley, Mae Thompson, Jack Dickson, Scott Evans, Sam Ige, Tom Parry, Chris Hall, Molly Renfer, Scott Evans, Souleyman Bah and Mollie O'Sullivan as athletes who have made an impact in the last few years.
